10 tips for not flaming out on adderall

  1. don’t drink more than 1 cup of caffeinated coffee a day.
  2. have 2 beers a night, 7-9% ABV. excursions above that are permitted, but not systematically. if you can drink less and still sleep, nice.
  3. know your anger. if it’s a deep-set, world-is-against-me kinda thing, eat a clif bar. you’re just being hypoglycemic.
  4. pre-plan your dinners… 5pm is a delicate time.
  5. (you’ll hate this suggestion) take off the occasional friday and read the blogs. (but if you take this suggestion, it will be like the first time you realized you liked wine or whisky, trust me)
  6. don’t hate yourself for not socializing on weekdays
  7. frozen meals for lunch (you don’t really care how it tastes anyway)
  8. use your time on the pill to figure out what you like about yourself.
  9. admit to perseverating
  10. dunno – but i wasn’t on the pill when i wrote this, so i’m not going to bother.

stupid things that obviously you know already:

  1. adderall does not make you smarter, or even necessarily more able to focus on what you WANT to focus on. it just makes your vision narrower and stimulates you (which is really the best part, admit it).
  2. if you’re also taking the pill on weekends, you’re doing it wrong
  3. if you’re taking the pill to stay up late, you’re doing it wrong
